The Austrian Freeski Open by Atomic went into the 2nd round today with the men’s qualification for the finals. Also today the weather was outstanding with the sun shining all day.

The guys battled each other and offered an exciting contest by impressing with their best tricks. In three heats the riders had two runs to present their skills. It was a tough competition, though in the end the 17 best riders were chosen by the Austrian Freeski judges and so move on to the finals.

At 3 pm riders, spectators and music fans joined the Austrian hip-hop band “LinksabbiegA” at the AFO Village Party in Kaprun, who created an unique atmosphere offering the crowd great beats on the Red Bull Brandwagen. At the “Tickets to the Finals” ceremony the 17 final riders from the qualification day were announced and the bib numbers were drawn.

Alongside the qualification, this year’s Austrian champion was crowned. Luca Tribondeau could convince the judges with a Rightside Double Twelve Mute and won the titel.
Tomorrow the 17 riders are able to prove their skills once more and compete against the 13 seeded riders including Nick Goepper, Gus Kenworthy and Andreas Hatveit in the finals. One can definitely look forward to an exciting last day of the Austrian Freeski Open 2013!
